We’ve already debunked the myth that you don’t have anything to write about, so on to another one… Blogging takes too much time.
We understand that Real Estate Agents are busy people, but as a Real Estate Agent in today’s world, carving out a little time to get yourself exposure on the Web is a valuable investment. And, believe it, a little time really is all it takes to put together some well thought out posts on the industry, since you already know what people want to hear about from your daily life. It’s simply a matter of keeping it short, simple, and about what you know.
One tip that we often give Realtors concerned with time is to not only show that you know real estate, but also show that you know the communities and towns that you are buying and selling in. And do it in 200 words or less.
Katie McBride, one of HubConnected’s super-bloggers out of Hopkinton, MA, is a perfect example of successfully blogging in the fast lane. She writes weekly about community news, local businesses, and best places to eat, and she does it in less than 175 words per post.
In one post, she used 118 words to talk about how hospitable the owner is at local Crepe Café. When searching on Google for this particular eatery, her post appears in the top results just underneath the company’s own site and yelp. In another impressive post she wrote about the local Country Fair that was coming to town. In just 156 words, Katie’s post was the absolute top result on Google.
Individuals who are interested in learning more information on these community activities are going to go searching for it online, and now Katie’s positioned herself as a local resource for this type of information. Keeping the topics strong and the writing simple saves Katie loads of time while still making a measurable impact in her own exposure.
The best part about using this method to save time blogging is that writing about these topics will come easily to you without much research. For example, write a short post about the new Starbucks that is finally opening up in town. You’ll likely get a lot of feedback from members of the community who are excited (or not so excited!) to hear the news. Try listening to local radio to hear what community activities are coming up to get inspired, like another successful blogger does. When making a move from another town, or even state, this type of information is highly sought after from buyers, making your fast 200 words become front runners in Web searches.
